Simon Jackson's background is in IT, so it was something of a surprise to find that he had a wealth of knowledge about all things botanical. As well as naming and explaining the birds and plants, he kept the rest of the team going during long days on the hills.
Lindsay Kemp-Harper learned to sail dinghies, then after retirement graduated to larger boats. He has sailed the waters of the Scottish west coast for over 10 years. He skippered his yacht between the islands and ferried the rest of the team ashore, and the dinners he had waiting for their return were always welcome.
Norman Hicks spent a couple of years on the Isle of Skye in the 70's as a civil engineer, but despite being so close, had never visited the Small Isles. He had been to Loch Coruisk, and marked his return in the same way as his first visit 36 years before - by taking a swim in its cold, clear waters!
